Applicant Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the UWC 2025 - 2027 scholarships in Lao PDR you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Lao national
  • Born between 1st April 2007-15th August 2010.
  • For students applying for Grade 10: You must currently be enrolled in school and must complete Grade 9 by August 2025 before attending UWC. (You MUST be attending school to apply, regardless of whether you meet the age requirement. Simply meeting the age requirements does not qualify you for the application)
  • For students applying for Grade 11-12: You must currently be enrolled in upper secondary school and must complete Grade 10 by August 2025 before attending UWC. (You MUST be attending upper secondary school to apply, regardless of whether you meet the age requirement. Simply meeting the age requirements does not qualify you for the application)

Important note: Although the teaching language at UWC is English, proficiency in English is not required. You can choose to apply in Lao or in English.

Required Documents

  1. UWC Scholarship Application Form (will be available to download on December3, 2024)

  2. An Academic Reference: from the school principal or a schoolteacher well acquainted with the student (Template can be downloaded here).

  3. A General Reference: to be completed by someone who knows you well through your out-of-school activities or hobbies (Template can be downloaded here).

  4. Official School Transcript: Every student should provide school transcripts covering the past TWO academic years up to the current academic year. If your first-semester transcript has not been issued, you can submit your current transcript of enrollment (September-December)

    1. If you are Grade 9 student: Please provide school transcript from grade 7-9 (for grade 9 you may provide a partial transcript from September-December)

    2. If you are Grade 10 student: Please provide school transcript from grade 8-10 (for grade 10 you may provide a partial transcript from September-December)

    3. If you are Grade 11 student: Please provide school transcript from grade 9-11 (for grade 11 you may provide a partial transcript from September-December)

    4. If you are Grade 12 student: Please provide school transcript from grade 10-12 (for grade 12 you may provide a partial transcript from September-December)

  5. For students applying to Grade 10-12: (IF APPLICABLE) Official transcript of the Lao national system Grade 4; or international equivalent Grade 9 (English is recommended, but not required).

  6. For students applying to Grade 11-12: Official transcript of the Lao national system Grade 4; or international equivalent Grade 9 (English is recommended, but not required).

*You can submit your current transcript of enrollment (September-December) if your first semester transcript has not been issued.

Important note:

  1. The school transcripts 2 years prior to your current academic year must have the official stamp from the school(s). The scan or picture of the transcript recording book with the official stamp is acceptable.
  2. If a candidate fails to submit ANY of the ABOVE DOCUMENTS, his/her application will be automatically disqualified for UWC Laos application 2025 – 2027.
